PETERBOROUGH chief Ged Rathbone has slashed admission prices in a bid to attract the best possible backing for the next generation of British talent.

The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers stage the British Under 21 semi-final at the East of England Showground on Tuesday (April 11, 7.30pm).

And Rathbone is hopeful of a bumper turnout for a meeting which falls in the Easter school holidays.

He has cut entry to £10 for adults and £5 for children aged 12 to 16. Accompanied kids under the age of 12 are admitted free.

And there is an added incentive for Peterborough season-ticket holders as they qualify for half-priced entry of £5.

Rathbone said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to stage the meeting at Peterborough – now we need supporters to turn out in force.

"We've priced the meeting as attractively as we possibly can and hopefully that will persuade fans to come along.

“It is vital that we show our backing to the next generation of young British riders and I’m excited to see them in action at the Showground.
“I’m confident our big, fast track is perfect stage for a meeting which I expect to have plenty of good racing.

“It’s also a brilliant opportunity for people to try speedway for the first time. There aren’t many family nights out for £20 or less these days.”

The 16 riders on show at Alwalton are battling for a top-10 finish to join six seeded riders in the British Under 21 Final at Poole on April 26.

GB youth chief Neil Vatcher said: “The standard of young British riders has really increased over the last few years. The quality of the semi-final is very strong indeed.”

Semi-final line-up: 1 Jack Smith (Belle Vue, Glasgow and Belle Vue Colts), 2 Kelsey Dugard (Eastbourne), 3 James Shanes (Poole), 4 Zach Wajtknecht (Swindon and Lakeside), 5 Luke Harris (Cradley), 6 Nathan Greaves (Wolverhampton and Isle of Wight), 7 Connor Mountain (Ipswich and Mildenhall), 8 Ellis Perks (Rye House, Redcar and Buxton), 9 Jack Thomas (Kent), 10 Josh Bailey (Kings' Lynn, Scunthorpe and King's Lynn Young Stars), 11 Jack Parkinson-Blackburn (Sheffield and Birmingham), 12 Danny Phillips (Newcastle and King's Lynn Young Stars), 13 Danno Verge (Mildenhall), 14 Nathan Stoneman (Kent), 15 Alfie Bowtell (Lakeside), 16 Danyon Hume (Ipswich and Birmingham).
