PETERBOROUGH bosses are throwing open the gates of the East of England Showground to the local sporting community during August.

The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers have three important home Premier League fixtures in the coming month as they entertain Edinburgh (Sunday 7th), Newcastle (Friday, 26th) and Redcar (Bank Holiday Monday, 29th).

And they want to welcome junior teams from grassroots sports across the Peterborough area to sample the thrills and spills of top-class speedway action as the race for play-off places hots up.

The generous offer is open to clubs playing in any sport and at any age up to Under 16 level.

Panthers are willing to accommodate parties of up to 20 children, who gain free admission, and up to five accompanying adults, who will enter for the discounted rate of just £5.

Promoter Ged Rathbone said: "We're constantly looking to create a new generation of speedway fans - and this promotion is part of that.

"We also know how tough it can be to find affordable activities to keep kids occupied during the school holidays.

"That's why we're offering the chance for sports teams to come and sample our fantastic sport at next-to-no cost.

"A speedway meeting a great social event and I hope plenty of local clubs take advantage of it."

Any teams interested in taking up the offer can make contact by email to, via the @PboroPanthers account on Twitter or through Peterborough Speedway Panthers on Facebook.
