BRITISH CHAMP CAN'T WAIT

Friday July 22, 2020
BRITISH champion Danny King can't wait to race in the biggest and best Premier League Fours event in history - and he's bringing his trophy with him!

The national king, who recently starred as a wildcard in the British Speedway Gramd Prix, is based only 20 miles from the East of England Showground in Huntingdon, Cambs.

It is also the venue where he started his career in the Peterborough junior system of old - and a place where he can usually be relied on to excel.

He hopes that will be the case again this weekend when spearheading Ipswich's quartet as they go in pursuit of glory.

King said: "I'm really looking forward to the Fours. There is nothing else like this event on the calendar and I'm sure it will be a big success.

"It has always been pretty popular, but it has the makings of something really special now for British speedway and hopefully the fans will turn out in force.

"Peterborough is a really exciting track that usually produces some great racing - and it's pretty easy to get to as well being so close to the A1.

"I've had a quick look through the line-ups and I don't think you can rule any of the 13 clubs out in the Fours while the individual meeting is a great addition for those that don't make it through."

King will have his British Championship crown proudly on display in the Riders' Village tomorrow lunchtime before the action on the track gets underway at 4pm with the three Fours semi-finals.

A night of live entertainment then follows before the bikes roar again at noon on Sunday with an individual meeting involving the top two riders from each of the eight sides who don't progress to the Fours final.

That then takes place at 4pm with hosts Peterborough entering to face the three triumphant semi-final sides in a thrilling showpiece.

Admission on the gate is £20 per day for adults or £30 for a two-day pass. They are £7.50 and £10 respectively for children aged 12 to 16 while kids under 12 gain free admission.

Evening entertainment tickets are an additional £5 (maximum capacity 600) and can be purchased during tomorrow.
