A RETURN to the top of the Premier League awaits for Peterborough . . . if they can collect East Anglian derby glory tonight.

The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers travel to Ipswich (7.30pm) at the start of a daunting run of fixtures.

Seven of Peterborough's next eight league outings are on the road and promoter Ged Rathbone insists picking up points will be essential in the race for play-off places.

He said: "We are entering into a very tough run with seven away meetings and just one at home during the next month.

"Starting it with a win to go back to the top of the table would be a great boost, but we are probably catching Ipswich at the wrong time.

"They have strengthened their team and seen their results improve so we are under no illusions about the difficulty of tonight's meeting.

"But we showed earlier in the season that we can get results on the road and we'll need everyone performing to their capabilities to do that again.

"It is vital we keep our points tally ticking over with the race for places in the play-offs really hotting up."

Panthers have called in Lasse Bjerre - a former Peterborough and Ipswich man - to guest at number one tonight with Craig Cook on Elite League duty while Zdenek Holub returns from a two-meeting injury lay-off at reserve.

The home side track two guests at the bottom of their order with Danny Ayres replacing Joe Jacobs, who is on top-flight duty alongside Cook for Belle Vue, and Connor Mountain stepping in for Ollie Greenwood, who is taking time out of the sport.

IPSWICH: Danny Ayres (guest), Ben Barker, Nico Covatti, Danny King, Connor Mountain (guest), Morten Risager, James Sarjeant.

PETERBOROUGH ‘T BALFE CONSTRUCTION’ PANTHERS: Lasse Bjerre (guesr), Emil Grondal, Zdenek Holub, Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen, Ashley Morris, Ulrich Ostergaard, Tom Perry.
