ASHLEY UPBEAT

Thursday July 14, 2020
NEW Peterborough rider Ashley Morris is confident he can build on his debut display.

The short-term signing contributed 5+2 at reserve as the 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers went down 46-44 to Scunthorpe on Tuesday night.

And the 22 year-old insists he learned a lot during just his second-ever meeting at the East of England Showground.

Morris said: "My score against Scunthorpe wasn't bad, but I was still frustrated as I know I could have done better.

"I'll learn from Tuesday and hopefully I can progress with every meeting as we get the different set-ups sussed out.

"The track went so slick that it made it tricky because the bike was spinning so much, but I had another skid after the meeting and felt good.

"I just want to put in the performances that prove I'm worth a place in the Premier League and I'm grateful to Peterborough for giving me the chance to do that.

"It wasn't nice to lose at home in my first meeting for Peterborough but hopefully we can make up for that against Berwick."

Peterborough entertain the Bandits tomorrow (Friday) in a clash of two teams currently sitting in the top four of the Premier League.

Berwick could be top by the time they arrive at Alwalton if winning at Ipswich tonight.

Meanwhile Morris will also be in action tonight after picking up a guest booking for Elite League side Leicester at King's Lynn. Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen rides for the hosts.
