PANTHERS SINK SCORPIONS

THREE terrific double-figures scores helped Peterborough power to a third away success of the Premier League season this afternoon.

Flying guest Kevin Doolan and star reserve Simon Lambert both piled up paid 15-point hauls, and back-on-song skipper Ulrich Ostergaard added 12+2, to spearhead a fine performance as the 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers triumphed 53-40 at Scunthorpe.

Peterborough hit the front at the Eddie Wright Raceway when Doolan, borrowed from Berwick for the afternoon, inspired a 4-2 in heat three.

And they never looked back to take an emphatic victory which earned all four available league points in the first of their two Bank Holiday Monday meetings.

Delighted promoter Ged Rathbone said: "It was excellent start to the day. We knew it wouldn't be an easy meeting and we had to be switched on.

"The guys did a professional to job to make sure we hit our target of picking up a victory.

"To come away with all four points is particularly pleasing."
Panthers' advantage grew to 10 points by the time the terrific Lambert and Ostergaard claimed a 5-1 over former Peterborough man Michael Palm Toft in a re-run of heat nine.

Scunthorpe did briefly hit back through a successful Josh Auty tactical ride in the next race, but Peterborough provided the perfect response to clinch victory in two successive awarded races following spills for home riders Ryan Douglas and Alex Davies.

Lambert led home guest Kenneth Hansen in heat 11 for a 5-1 before Doolan took the honours as the next race resulted in a 4-2.
But Peterborough had to wait until the finale to clinch maximum points as Doolan and Ostergaard combined for another 5-1 to cap a super performance.

Peterborough face their second test of a busy day when entertaining Ipswich at the East of England Showground (8pm).
