WITCHES ONLY ON AUGUST 5

Friday July 27, 2018
PETERBOROUGH’S next home fixture on Sunday August 5 has now reverted to a single-header Championship clash with local rivals Ipswich (5pm).

A double-header had been arranged which would also have brought Lakeside to the East of England Arena in the Knockout Cup.

The Hammers had accepted that date but are now unable to attend, and the KO Cup match will be arranged for later in the season.

Start-time for the match against the Witches will be the regular Sunday 5pm, and there will also be a full programme of junior racing after the main event.

Panthers will be without Ulrich Ostergaard as he continues to struggle with broken ribs, which are still leaving him in considerable discomfort. Ben Barker has already accepted a guest booking to cover for Ostergaard.

Promoter Ged Rathbone sad: “Ulrich is still in pain and at the moment he doesn’t know whether it’s best to stand up or lie down, so unfortunately he’s some way from a return.

“But we’re pleased to bring Ben in. We all know how much he enjoys riding at Peterborough and we know he’ll give it absolutely 100 per cent.

“It’s going to be an important match for both sides especially with Ipswich winning at Redcar on Friday. They have a chance of making the play-offs but they need more away wins, and I’m sure they will bring a big following.

“For ourselves, it’s vital that we keep winning. We’ve got a busy away programme in August but every meeting we win makes it harder for other clubs to catch us.”

Panthers can also confirm that with additional stewards on duty, more sections of the main grandstand – if not all – will be open, which should assist with supporter comfort especially if the hot spell continues.
