EDINBURGH v PANTHERS, PREVIEW

Thursday May 03, 2018
PANTHERS race the second of two matches in two nights when they visit Edinburgh on Friday (7.30pm).

The Monarchs have been amongst the clubs who have suffered with postponements this season and have only raced four official fixtures so far.

A home defeat to local rivals Glasgow effectively ended their interest in the Championship Shield, but they did bounce back to defeat Berwick 51-39 last week.

Panthers are forced into two changes for the trip to Armadale, as Ulrich Ostergaard and Emil Grondal are both required to race in Denmark.

Rider-replacement covers for Ostergaard with all members of the team eligible for an extra outing, whilst Newcastle’s Carl Wilkinson steps in to guest for Grondal.

Manager Carl Johnson said: “It’s a track we’ve done well at in the past, although it’s a big loss to us to be without Emil and Ulrich especially with the way they’re going.

“Unfortunately you’re always going to get clashes nowadays with Denmark and Poland – they take up a lot of nights of the week, and this week we don’t have our full one-to-seven, which is a shame because I always want to go everywhere with our full team.

“But Wilko goes well around there and hopefully we can catch them cold early-doors, and take some points from them as well.

“People looking at our performance at Sheffield will see we’re a team to be feared home and away, and the lads are more than good enough to put in another performance to make every Peterborough supporter proud.”

EDINBURGH: Ricky Wells, Joel Andersson, Mark Riss, Max Ruml, Erik Riss, Matt Williamson, Josh Pickering.
PETERBOROUGH: Scott Nicholls, Carl Wilkinson, Nike Lunna, Michael Palm Toft, Ulrich Ostergaard r/r, Tom Bacon, Simon Lambert.
