GRONDAL IS BACK!

Sunday December 03, 2017
Peterborough Speedway are pleased to announce the fifth addition to their 2018 team and it comes in the form of another returning Panther as popular Dane Emil Grøndal will once again don the red and black next season.

The 22 year old Dane with a permanent smile from Silkeborg spent the early part of last season with Premiership champions Swindon Robins but was unable to secure a Premiership place when he lost his team berth at Blunsdon. He comes into the Panthers side on a 4.39 average (subject to BSPA confirmation) and is yet another rider who has plenty of potential to improve on that starting figure.

Team manager Carl Johnson is pleased with how the T.Balfe Construction Panthers team building is progressing; "I’m looking forward to working with Emil again and I think he has a point to prove to us for releasing him in 2016. He felt he had a lot more to give that season and was unfairly released so he’s focused on putting things right, I think Emil has huge potential and a bright future and it’s his time... he needs to push forward and prove himself as a top second string rider this season. Our decision to bring Emil back brings another rider to the team who is excellent around the showground and should provide a massive amount of points from his position in the team."

A delighted Grøndal echoed those thoughts; " I’m very delighted to be back in Peterborough for the 2018 speedway season. I started my English career with this club, and I'm glad that Ged wanted me back for the upcoming season. There is always a great atmosphere there, and probably some of the best fans in the country. I get along really well with the other guys in the team, and I'm going to do everything I can to get another title back to the club. We are currently working intensely at my workshop in Denmark, making sure that we have the best equipment ready to provide as many points as possible. I'm feeling physically and mentally ready for next year's challenges and I'm already looking forward to March. Thanks to all the fans for all the nice messages, you guys have a huge impact on the team. Rock on 2018, and thanks again for the opportunity to the management."

So with Emil's name firmly on a contract for 2018, Panthers management team are left with 13.76 for the remaining two members of the team.

Further announcements will be made as soon as deals are signed and sealed.
