SCOTT GUESTS AGAINST SCOTTISH SIDE!

Sunday September 03, 2017
PETERBOROUGH are bidding to drag themselves out of their SGB Championship slump today.

The ‘T Balfe Construction’ Panthers entertain Glasgow at the East of England Arena in a meeting which now starts at 7.30pm.

They enjoyed their best result of the season when beating the Scottish side 55-37 when they last visited in June – and team boss Carl Johnson is hopeful of a repeat performance on a night when his side will be spearheaded by two of the top British riders of the modern era.

Not only does Chris Harris return from World Long Track Championship duty, he is joined by guest Scott Nicholls in the Panthers line-up.

Rye House racer Nicholls steps in at number one for Jack Holder to make a rare appearance in the second tier of the sport. Nicholls and Harris have won 10 national titles between them!

Johnson said: “We produced a terrific performance when Glasgow were last in town – and we’ve love to do the same again.

“We really need a result tonight. We’re in a rut after such a tough run lately and the only thing that will get us going is a good win.

“It’s essential we put on a show for the fans and I’m sure they will enjoy seeing Scott in action for us.

"It’s great to be able to bring in a guest of his calibre and I'm expecting a terrific meeting."

Peterborough are still without Bradley Wilson-Dean due to injury, while visitors Glasgow could be two riders down.

Finnish rider Nike Lunna's season is over after a bad crash in Sweden last week and British prospect Dan Bewley may also miss the trip to the East of England Arena after he was hurt when representing Great Britain in the World Under 21 Team Cup Final yesterday.

Glasgow went down to a surprise 49-44 home defeat at the hands of depleted leaders Sheffield last night.

Peterborough are offering a £5 discount on admission to fans who paid for entry to the abandoned clash against Newcastle on Wednesday. A valid ticket from that meeting must be presented to qualify.
