PETERBOROUGH team boss Carl Johnson hopes the attitude of guest number one Ben Barker rubs off on the club’s other riders tonight.

The ‘T Balfe Construction’ Panthers are out to stretch their four-match winning run when they make the long trip to Glasgow for a tasty SGB Championship clash (7pm).

Peterborough will be spearheaded by Barker – a popular figure in a short spell with the club towards the end of the 2015 season and also a former Glasgow rider – and Johnson reckons his no-nonsense mentality can ruffle the Tigers’ feathers.

Johnson said: “We’ll go to Glasgow full of belief. We’re on a good run and we were very impressive against them at our place recently.

"We’ve booked a very capable guest at number one in Ben. He knows Glasgow well after riding there for a chunk of last season, and scored double-figures there recently.

“We know he will be feisty, we know he will be hard on track, and we know he will ride with his heart on his sleeve.

“That’s exactly the sort of attitude when facing a formidable team on their own track, and hopefully the other boys will follow suit.”

Peterborough are hopeful that skipper Ulrich Ostergaard will be well enough to return after missing a terrific Thursday success at Redcar with a stomach bug.

They triumphed 52-40 in his absence to register their fourth successive SGB Championship victory – a hot streak which has carried them into contention for a play-off spot.

A 55-37 drubbing of Glasgow at the East of England Arena just under a fortnight ago also features in that excellent run.

That is the only occasion this season in which the third-placed Tigers have failed to pick up at least a point in a league meeting.
