PANTHERS PREVIEW: START THE SURGE

Saturday June 10, 2017
CAPTAIN Ulrich Ostergaard wants Peterborough to start their SGB Championship resurgence tomorrow (Sunday).

The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers will aim to put a frustrating run of injuries, defeats and postponements behind them when hosting Berwick at the East of England Arena (5pm).

And Ostergaard reckons it is the perfect occasion for Peterborough, who have gone just over a month without a victory, to launch a charge up the standings.

He said: "It's been tough for us lately, but we all believe we can still make the play-offs.

"We have to start showing it by putting in good performances and picking up the points we need.

"We're definitely all looking forward to a home meeting. It's almost a month since we last raced on our track.

"We know we need a result and we're aiming to get that while putting on some top racing for the supporters."

A dry weather forecast will in itself be enough to delight Peterborough after only managing to completed five races in their last four meetings.

They came in an abandoned KO Cup trip to Scunthorpe last Sunday with their other three most recent fixtures all being rained off.

They also saw a home clash against Berwick postponed during last month. Peterborough would have been without two riders - Jack Holder and Bradley Wilson-Dean - on that occasion, but they're at full-strength tomorrow.

Wilson-Dean steps into the main body of the team for the first time after his high-scoring start to the campaign with Simon Lambert now at reserve.

Major signing Chris Harris will hopefully make his full debut after being snapped up last month.

Berwick have signed a new number one themselves in recent weeks with Nick Morris spearheading the visiting side.

The Bandits side also includes David Howe, a fine Peterborough servant of yesteryear who represented the club in all three leagues.

Another ex-Panthers rider, Lewis Bridger, is expected to be passed fit following an injury. Berwick call up Jake Knight to guest at reserve with Lee Payne sidelined.
