TOM Bacon hopes to follow up the first race triumph of his Peterborough career with many more.

The reserve racer won heat two as the 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers slipped to a 47-43 defeat at the hands of Newcastle last Saturday.

Bacon openly admits his first foray into SGB Championship has been tough, but the 24 year-old remains in upbeat mood.

He said: "I'm not going to lie, I've found it really tough at this level.

"But I've not allowed my head to go down. I've worked hard with Phil Crump on my engines, made changes to my riding style and tried to focus on making better starts.

"It was great to get that first race win. It shows I'm capable of riding well enough and that my bikes are fast enough.

“It’s just a shame that we couldn’t win the meeting, but I'm sure that we'll bounce back as we have a lot of quality in the team.”

Peterborough will try to do just that when they host Berwick tomorrow (Friday, 7.30pm) in the first of three meetings in as many days.
