PETERBOROUGH rider Paul Starke has booked his place in the final of the British Championship.

The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers racer racked up 10 points to finish in the qualifying spots in a semi-final at Newcastle tonight (Sunday).

Starke triumphed in one of his five rides at Brough Park. He also picked up a trio of second places and one third to advance to the showpiece at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester on June 19.

The semi-final was won by former Panthers rider Rory Schlein, who had a spell with the club in 2010. Another ex-Panther, and reigning national champion, Danny King also featured among the eight qualifiers.

Current Peterborough asset Danny Phillips picked up one point.

Simon Lambert races in the second semi-final at Sheffield on Thursday.

Semi-final one qualifiers: 1 Rory Schlein 13pts (after run-off), 2 Richie Worrall 13, 3 Lewis Rose 11, 4 Danny King 11, 5 Jason Garrity 11, 6= Steve Worrall 10, 6= Paul Starke 10, 8 Richard Lawson 9 (after run-off).
