DERBY PREVIEW: PRESSURE-FREE PANTHERS

Saturday April 15, 2017
PETERBOROUGH team boss Carl Johnson insists all the pressure is on Ipswich in the first East Anglian derby of the SGB Championship season tonight.

The ‘T Balfe Construction’ Panthers travel to Foxhall Stadium, 7.30pm, to face the Witches in the first of two Easter clashes between the sides in the space of three days. They meet again at the East of England Showground on Monday.

Peterborough will roll into Suffolk in possession of a perfect record in 2017 after winning their opening four competitive meetings of the campaign.

Johnson said: “We have not performed well at Ipswich in the last couple of seasons, but what’s happened in the past doesn’t really concern me.

“I’m much more interested in the present and we’ll go there tonight in upbeat mood after an excellent start to the season.

“Confidence is high after winning our opening four meetings and hopefully we can keep that run going.

“Ipswich have tweaked their track during the winter and that’s something we can possibly use to our advantage at this stage of the season.

“They’re also going into the meeting off the back of a heavy defeat at Sheffield on Thursday.

“The pressure is on them to get a result whereas we will just do what we’ve done so far – and that’s have fun!”

Peterborough welcome reserve star Bradley Wilson-Dean back into the fold after he missed the KO Cup success at Redcar on Thursday due to a fixture clash with SGB Premiership side Swindon.

They can also call on the services of Paul Starke as this fixture takes priority over his top-flight side Somerset’s trip to Leicester tonight.

But Panthers are again without Danish rider Kenneth Hansen due to illness. He will also sit out the return clash against Ipswich on Easter Monday.

Ipswich are at full-strength with number one Danny King declared fit following a high-speed spill in their defeat at Sheffield.
