PETERBOROUGH are delighted to be backing a local man’s charity mission.

The ‘T Balfe Construction’ Panthers are sponsoring the latest in a series of football matches, organising by well-known local player Marco Sementa.

He has already raised more than £6,000 for Sue Ryder, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, the East Anglian Children’s Hospital and MacMillan by hosting 23 games during last year, and is now organising more matches for 2017.

The first of them is tonight at Leading Drove, the home of Yaxley FC, when Panthers team boss Carl Johnson will be lacing up his boots to play.

“It’s an honour to play in the game and support such a good cause,” said Johnson. “I’ve known Marco for many years and we have been team-mates plenty of times in local football.

“His efforts for charity are absolutely brilliant and we’re happy to do our little bit to help him.”
