ONE of the biggest derbies in British Speedway is back for 2017.

Peterborough will make the short trip along the A47 to King's Lynn for a mouthwatering Challenge clash next month.

The March 29 showdown at the Adrian Flux Arena will pit the 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers of the SGB Championship against higher-level hosts in the shape of the SGB Premiership Stars.

Promoter Ged Rathbone said: "It has the makings of a greet meeting and I'm sure it is one which will capture the imagination of both sets of supporters.

"Ourselves and King's Lynn may race in different leagues these days, but both sides will be keen to put on a great show.

"It's one of those fixtures where we have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose.

"We will gain valuable track-time in the early part of the season and our boys will come up against quality opposition.

"It's a good opportunity for them to show what they can do."

The meeting has thrown up a battle of the brothers with new Peterborough number one Jack Holder going up against older sibling, and former world champion, Chris, who is King's Lynn's big winter signing.

The Lynn team also features three ex-Panthers riders in Troy Batchelor, Robert Lambert and Nicklas Porsing, while team boss Dale Allitt is a former joint boss at Peterborough.

King's Lynn are the second top-flight team that Peterborough will face next month. A home Challenge against Coventry, to launch their campaign on Sunday, March 19, has already been announced.

That date against the Bees is then followed by the first competitive fixture of the SGB Championship season when Scunthorpe visit the East of England Showground on Friday, March 24.

The trip to King's Lynn then follows ahead of a first away league clash at Scunthorpe on Sunday, April 2.
